Committee Information

The Good of the Wiremen

The Good of the Wiremen Committee was recently formed to address a worrisome trend in participation of members in the business and activities of Local 768.  Participation has declined considerably over the course of the last few years, to the point where its typically only a small core group of individuals who step up to handle the challenges of the Local and enjoy its events.

Don't let the name of the "committee" derail you.  No matter what your professional classification is, if you are an active member of Local 768, we want to hear from you.  Our primary goal is to positively promote the image and members of the Local. That means all members!

We understand that good communication amongst members and with the staff at the hall is a key component to having and maintaining quality relationships between members and their local.  We are working diligently to improve all forms of communication within our Local.

Electronic communication is a wonderful tool that we wish to employ because of the convenience and cost savings it offers to all of our members. We are developing the ability to email and text our members and you can find us on FACEBOOK…(just search Local seven sixtyeight or Local 768).

As with all things electronic…the outputs are only as good as the inputs!  To make this transition we need emails and cell phone numbers.  The best way, is for everyone to register on our website.

You are registered…THANKS!  Now, can you do us another favor...encourage your fellow union brothers and sisters to do the same?  We have about 600 members in our local…and less than 175 registered on the website!

The local union is comprised of members…those members are US.  We know the members that we work with, in fact, some of us have been working with the same members for a long time.  But what about the members in your own community that are a different classification?  If you are an inside wireman…how many linemen do you know?  If you are a lineman…how many telecomm members do you know?

We are working to change that with events throughout the year that will allow you to get to know the rest of the members in your community.  You might find that others are not so different from you and a stronger union is formed!

So please, contact us - send us your ideas and help us improve things for all members!

You can contact Jeff Holmquist at the email address shown above or email or call the staff at the hall with your input.  Thank you all.

And remember, our Local is what we make it!!
